It's hard to believe that it has been a year since the Town approved the plan to restore the Hingham Centre play area during a public Board of Selectmen meeting on June 5, 2018. Although the plan was unopposed during the meeting, and unanimously approved, the Town subsequently expressed some reservations after a handful of citizens raised aesthetic concerns about the height of the proposed framed climber several months later in September. In response, we revised the design by replacing the framed climber with a see-saw, and then shared the updated plan with the Town back in January, 2019. We have since received positive feedback, but the process has been slow moving presumably due to competing Town priorities. Most recently, the Town asked to see the location of the old play equipment on the site plan, which we promptly provided late last week. Our hope is that the Town will approve the revised plan in the coming weeks. When it does, we will resume our fundraising efforts in order to break ground in the fall.
In the meantime, we thank you for your continued support as we work to restore this neighborhood gem. — The Hingham Centre Playground Committee
